Hey, first.

I disagree with the thought that Knight and Ramage will be sent down. The rest I agree on. Knight, I think, will be given more time to get a rhythm to see if he can stick. Ramage has been one of the more consistent guys out there all camp. I think he'll get more time as well. JMO.

Ramage looked good last night but you can tell he's still raw...50/50 he gets sent down in my opinion. I agree that Knight will stick around as well.

I was at the game last night and was REALLY impressed with Russell. I think with the opportunity he will get here he will break out this season. Awesome skater, great vision, great on the PP, crisp passes, he's the total package (aside from his size).

Joey Mac was decent last night although that second goal near the end of the 2nd was weak and kind of hurt...you could tell he was upset he let that one in.

I wonder if Seiloff's cheek injury will be the pre-cursor to sending him back to junior? Tough break for the kid.

Did anyone see the game in Regina last night? I'm curious how Wotherspoon looked?

Love the Poirier quote too Colin...this kid has some serious desire!!!

Hey guys...youre both likely right about Knight, but he hasnt impressed me so I added him...if I were the coach, Id cut em ...especially with Galiardi looking to play center and Monahan looking to stick around.

Ramage, though hes been playing quite well, as you mentioned hes just not there and the team needs to start getting ready for the regular season.

I caught some parts of the Regina game and Wotherspoon had another strong game. He is going to be around until the final cuts for sure the way hes been playing. I like his game. Sieloff I forgot about as with that injury theres a good chance hes added to the list with a "You did damn good kid" message from the coach.

Don't think Hanowski, Jooris or Knight will be cut today. There is still a week to go and 2 pre-season games.

If anybody gets cut today that i thought would have a chance at making the team, its Granlund. Granted i think he survives today, but does not make it.

Ortio would be cut today if they didn't need another goalie in camp. I highly doubt he gets another pre-season game.

I think they have been trying Knight on wing to see if he can stick. From what i heard last night he had a good game with a couple of assists. I agree that Galiardi looks like he is now a center for the flames. Has he lost a draw yet at center? This was no Tanguay experiment.

Mostly unrelated as his name didn't come up but I was at the Calgary/Edmonton Game with a buddy. I mentioned that I had heard good things about Ferland up in Pentiction. Not 10 minutes later, "Who's (insert #), he has been tearing it up tonight!", yep it was Ferland. I hope he makes it, huge desire out there.

Tough break for Seiloff for sure. I think he was well on his way to making this team. From reports I heard Wotherspoon was pretty good again.

The more I see Monahan the more I like that fact we dropped to 6th...

Ya I was a little disappointed in Granlund last night...you can tell he has talent but he's going to need a year in the AHL to adjust his game!

My guess for cuts today are:
David Eddy, Braden Lamb, Ryan Culkin, Josh Jooris, Turner Elson, Coda Gordon, Chris McKelvie, Chad Billins, Laurent Brossoit, Ben Street, Joni Ortio, Marcus Granlund, Breen
Edit: Forgot about Keegan Kanzig, he will probably get the axe too.

Hanowski, Knight, Ramage will live to see the next cuts.

I was at the game last night. Tyler looked great actually. He made simple plays, used his stick very effectively and moved the puck well. He looked like he'd been doing it at this level for years.

He played a decent amount too. After Culkin got hurt, it seemed like O'Brien never came off the ice. This is the first time I'd seen Cundari play live and the top line for the Isles made him look stupid down low. Blew past him, outworked him on the boards, etc. He moves the puck well, and gets nice shots off.. but I really wasn't overly impressed.

Butler looked like clumsy ol Butler. O'Brien looked like a great addition. Culkin looked like a boy among men.

Reminds me of Scheifele's game when he was just drafted, he had a four point night with two goals.

But then that didn't pan.

What would be the point quota for Monahan to stay up after 9 games?

6 pts?

Monohan > Scheifele
Even if he doesn't get the "point quota" you talk about.

He did a lot of the little things last night. Andddd he capitalized on the opportunities. His first goal was an absolute snipe. Beautiful to watch.

I think with Monahan it's all going to be what's best for him personally. Calgary has a lot of bottom 6 potential centermen to fill gaps. From what he showed last night he could absolutely stay in the NHL. He'd most likely see 3rd line minutes all year though.
Both Stajan and Backlund looked ready to go.

Has anyone come to any conclusions on who the goaltending tandem will be to start the year? Has anyone stood out more than the others?
